Adultery recovery when done well, is like a 50 mile ultra marathon. It's long, painful, has ups and downs, requires commitment and dedication, and doesn't come easy, BUT the rewards are just as big as the task at hand.
Sadly, most people treat adultery recovery like a one mile fun run. They want it over as quick as possible. I can't blame them. I wasn't sure Amy and I were going to make it that first two weeks. The marriage intensive at Branson, MO (www.nationalmarriage.com) saved our marriage no doubt. God used it in a powerful way. We hope someday to sponsor other couples who need their intensive.
There are still days where I wonder how we made it. I can't thank God enough. It's not a pleasant story to tell, but if Amy and I can help others either recover from something similar OR stay far away from it, then we are willing to do so.
Romans 5:3-5 (The Message)
"There’s
more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in
with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate
patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel
of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert
expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite
the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God
generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!"
